Roy, born into the embrace of Kerala’s warmth on October 22, 1972, to K. Yohannan and Saramma Yohannan in Cherumkha, Pandalam, embarked on his educational journey at Eddapon School, later transitioning to Cherumukhka L.P School, and ultimately pursuing higher studies at NSS College, Pandalam.

Even in his formative years at Eddapon School, Roy exhibited a natural knack for leadership, assuming the mantle of Unit President for the Student Federation of India (SFI). His passion for community engagement blossomed through his steadfast dedication to Akhila Kerala Balajanasakhyam, a cherished institution under the auspices of the esteemed Malayala Manorama Newspaper. Roy’s unwavering commitment bore fruit, as he ascended to a leadership role after 18 years of unwavering service, earning accolades as the Best Member during the organization’s momentous 60th Anniversary celebrations.

Beyond academics, Roy’s canvas was painted with hues of extracurricular brilliance. His adept organizational skills shone through in orchestrating captivating cycle rallies, showcasing his flair for orchestrating impactful events. 

At the heart of his endeavors lay a deep-seated commitment to community welfare, reflected in his multifaceted roles within the Pandalam Union and Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam.

A wordsmith in his own right, Roy’s eloquence resonated across school and college halls, clinching victory in prestigious elocution competitions. Yet, his pursuits transcended mere rhetoric, finding resonance in his tireless efforts within the Bluestar Balajanasakhyam Arts and Sports Club of Ayranikudy, and the Immanuel Marthoma Church, where his altruism knew no bounds.

While pursuing his nursing education in Gulbarga, Roy emerged as a trailblazer in founding the Marthoma Church and assumed the role of Joint Secretary for Gulbarga Keraliya Samajam. Amidst his academic pursuits, Roy’s dynamism extended to representing Malayala Manorama and spearheading diverse social endeavors as a distinguished figure within the vibrant Malayali community of Bombay.

A Beacon of Leadership and Community Service

Roy is a man of remarkable compassion and dedication, supported by his loving wife, Jessy Varghese, and their three children: Allen, Daniel, and Aaron.

At the heart of Roy’s endeavors lies his commitment to philanthropy. He is the driving force behind Faith Home, a sanctuary where elderly pastors find comfort and care in their later years. Alongside this, Roy spearheads the pentecostal Ashramam, providing a spiritual refuge for those in need.

But Roy’s vision extends beyond sanctuary alone. With Good Earth, he pioneers a holistic approach to social development. This initiative not only nurtures mentally and physically challenged children in a specialized training center but also promotes agricultural development to support Non-Resident Indians and foster sustainable growth.

In addition to these initiatives, Roy actively engages in social causes such as NECK’s Blood Donation Programs and organizing impactful social camps in Kuwait. His unwavering dedication and tireless efforts exemplify the transformative power of compassion and community service.

Echoes of Dedication: The Multifaceted Journey of Roy

Roy is a multifaceted individual, showcasing eloquence as an orator, prowess as an author, and fervor as a public speaker. He graced screens as the producer of “Kathayilude,” a captivating television program aired on Powervision Channel from 2008 to 2009. His journey extends beyond the realm of media, with notable stints such as Director at Bright College, Mavelikkara in 1990.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Roy emerges as a beacon of social change, actively engaged in the YMCA and tirelessly advocating against societal malaises like drug addiction and the scourge of the dowry system. In Kuwait, he assumes pivotal roles within the United Pentecostal Fellowship, channeling his passion into shaping Christian ministry.

Yet, Roy’s impact transcends geographical boundaries, as he orchestrates global prayer initiatives through his role as the worldwide prayer coordinator for the Good Samaritan Prayer Fellowship. His dedication extends to the daily dissemination of prayers through the Neighbors Daily Prayer Publisher, echoing his commitment to fostering spiritual upliftment worldwide. In essence, Roy’s narrative embodies a symphony of talents harmonized with a profound dedication to social betterment and spiritual enlightenment.

Unveiling ‘Chempakapoovu’ – A Literary Beacon Amidst Pandemic Peril

In the face of the unprecedented challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, Roy emerges as a beacon of hope and resilience with his inspiring book, ‘Chempakapoovu’, published in 2020. The unveiling of this profound work was a momentous occasion, conducted virtually on the Zoom platform, and graced by the presence of distinguished personalities including the esteemed former Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. Oommen Chandy, and renowned novelist, Mr. Benyamin.

Against the backdrop of uncertainty, the event served as a testament to the power of literature to unite and uplift, drawing the attention of parliamentarians, legislative members, and eminent social leaders. Amidst the darkness of adversity, ‘Chempakapoovu’ shines as a testament to resilience and human spirit, offering solace and inspiration to readers navigating through turbulent times.
