M.K.U. Nambiar is the visionary Managing Director of Sofiya United Company, a powerhouse in the realm of general trading and contracting based in Kuwait. With remarkable 47-year tenure in Kuwait, Mr. Nambiar has steered the ship for Sofiya United Co. for an impressive 32 years, showcasing an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Mr. Nambiar’s journey began in 1978 as an administrative assistant with Abdul Aziz Al Arfaj Co., marking the genesis of a career that would unfold with noteworthy achievements. Climbing the corporate ladder, he transitioned through various roles, from Sales Supervisor to Operation Controller and later, Division Manager in Al Arfaj. In 1992, he embarked on a new chapter, joining Al Mulla Environmental Systems as senior Sales Supervisor, swiftly rising to the position of Sales Manager within a year, a testament to his exceptional performance.
Amidst his corporate endeavors, Mr. Nambiar ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing Al-Jarah Bakery and Sweets in 1992, followed by the launch of Malabar Super Market in 2012. The latter, situated in Mahaboula, offers a diverse array of products, from groceries to confectioneries and kitchen utensils. In 2017, he unveiled Naushad Big chef in Fahaheel and Salmiya, adding to his illustrious portfolio. The inception of Sofiya United Company in 1999 marked yet another milestone, solidifying Mr. Nambiar’s imprint in the business landscape of Kuwait.
Sofiya United Co. has emerged as a beacon of reliability in Kuwait’s trading and contracting domain, driven by the visionary foresight of Mr. Fahad Al Zoubi and Mr. Nambiar himself. A volleyball enthusiast and a well-read individual with diverse interests, he is a member of Kannur Association and the vice-chairman of the Kuwait Indian Restaurant Association.

Mr. Nambiar’s family plays a significant role in his life. Mr. Nambiar’s father, K.K. Narayanan Nambiar, was a teacher, and his late mother, M.K. Rugmini Amma, was a homemaker. Married to Rethi Devi, a homemaker, the couple has two sons. Dr. Sushanth Unnikrishnan, the elder son, is a MD in Anesthetics working at National Health Services in the United Kingdom. Mr. Prashanth Unnikrishnan, the second son, holds a Masters in Hotel Management and serves as Operations-in-Charge, showcasing the family’s multi-faceted accomplishments.
